Looking out of my room's expansive windows I see the skyline of San Diego, the Coronado Bridge and San Diego Bay. I also see a huge flag of Mexico. This is the most notable clue that I am looking north from the hills of Tijuana. I feel safe, comfortable, and at ease. This is because I am in a safe place, well cared for, and living in accommodations that I would rate 4 stars. The accommodations and quality of care are excellent. The staff here is very welcoming. Meals are prepared as I request, there is daily room service and laundry, the facility is immaculately maintained, there are entertainment rooms with hot tub, pool table, and exercise equipment.
But of course I am not here on vacation but on very serious business. The fact that I am relaxed is due solely to my surroundings and the quality of care I am receiving.
Seven years ago, at age 54, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After a prostatectomy and beam radiation treatment my PSA started climbing, doubling every 3 months. By February 2007 it was over 4. I was out of options in the U.S., but fortunately not out of options. In February 2007 I went to Mexico for three weeks and received treatment under the care of Dr. Quintana. When I returned home my PSA had declined to 0.01. My oncologist was greatly surprised, you could probably say shocked. With every three month follow up and the continuation of a 0.01 PSA, she kept asking me, "What are you doing?" The treatment was noninvasive and designed to attack only cancer cells and to support and enhance one's immune system. Contrast that with chemotherapy.
Why am I here now? After three years of returning to normal life without medical or other life restrictions, except maintaining a low glycemic diet, my PSA began to climb. Once it got to 0.72 I could read the writing on the wall. And of course it was time to return to Dr. Quintana. The treatment protocol that is being administered to me now is very similar to the one I had three and one-half years ago. There are a few enhancements one of which that I am very excited about. The big addition is the use of full body hyperthermia. A few years ago I read that this is the treatment administered to Ronald Regan to cure his stomach cancer. He had this procedure secretly done while he was president. At the time we did not know that our president went to Germany for treatment because it was not available in the U.S. It still isn't.
The point I am trying to make is that there are effective and scientifically valid cancer treatments available in many other parts of the world that are not available in the U.S. For me Mexico is the closest to home and offers high quality doctors such as Dr. Quintana that have years of experience and training. The accommodations at Natural Therapies are great also.
It is normal to be fearful and confused when the diagnosis is cancer. For those of us with cancer there is an initial shock, life seems surreal. It is easy to accept the direction of traditional medical doctors. We are in shock and in need direction. It is important to consider all one's options, to get beyond the shock and fear. Once chemotherapy becomes the last resort, the success rate is low. My oncologist admits that if not caught soon enough modern medicine has made little progress in treating cancer successfully.
From my experience I suggest first trying an alternative to chemotherapy. It has worked for me and given me over three years of normal life, and I expect that it will be successful again. I have read that chemotherapy severely compromises one's immune system and that cancer becomes increasingly resistant to it. So when the cancer reappears the patient has a compromised immune system less able to put up a defense and a therapy less likely to be effective. The protocol with which I have been treated supports my immune system and cancer does not have increased resistance to it.
I have heard the arguments against receiving treatment in Mexico. The travel is not safe, the treatments are not tested, and the care suspect at best. After all, the argument goes if the treatments were so effective they would be available in the U.S. These arguments are often filled with lack of knowledge and fear. From my experience these arguments do not hold up. If you select the right clinic, the travel is safe, the treatments are tested, and the care is excellent. As for the best treatments being available in the U.S., Ronald Regan would probably disagree.
If you or a loved one are diagnosed with cancer I hope you will consider treatment options other than those available in the U.S. Please consider contacting Natural Therapies to learn more about the protocol they use and to receive a free analysis to determine if the treatment they offer is appropriate and offers hope.
